Using cow dung for ritual fire (Havan) or purification is a practice rooted in deep Vedic tradition, offering both spiritual and practical benefits:

• 1. Ultimate Purifier (The Presence of Lakshmi): Cow dung is considered supremely sacred (Pavitra). Ancient texts suggest that the Goddess of Prosperity, Maa Lakshmi, resides in cow dung. 📜 How to Use Your Cow Dung Cakes (Upla)

 

These cakes are primarily used as fuel for sacred fire, but they also have simple daily uses:

A. For Havan (Sacred Fire Ceremony):

 

1. Preparation: Place 3-5 cakes inside your Havan Kund or fire vessel.

2. Ignition: Place a small piece of camphor or a dry cotton wick soaked in Ghee on top of the cakes. Light this wick.

3. The Ritual: Once the cow dung cakes catch fire and begin to glow red, gradually offer your Havan Samagri (herbs, grains, and other offerings) and drops of Ghee into the fire while chanting your mantras.

B. For Daily Purification (Dhoop/Smoke):

 

1. Quick Cleanse: Place one small piece of the cake on a copper plate or metal stand.

2. Add Aroma: Sprinkle a few pinches of dried herbs, loban (incense resin), or crushed camphor directly onto the cake.

3. Light: Light the cake with a match until it begins to smolder and release the fragrant smoke.

4. Circulate: Carry the plate gently and move the smoke throughout your home, especially into corners, to dispel negativity and purify the atmosphere.
